Hello everybody and welcome back to the new school year. We hope you all had a lovely break and enjoyed the summer holidays. For the new parents, the newsletter is something we do once a month to give you an idea of what’s coming up or what may be happening during the month. Please take the time to note any dates or information that may be of importance. Thank you.
NEW JUNIOR INFANTS
Firstly, we would like to take this opportunity to welcome our new junior infant boys to the school. We know it’s all so new, so exciting and maybe emotional for you and your son. Their wonderful teachers will take great care of your boys.
NEW PARENTS’ ASSOCIATION MEMEBERS
We were delighted to see so many new faces at our first meeting on September 4th. Again, like each year, we are asking parents if you would please join the Parents Association. Any time or assistance you can give is greatly appreciated and it helps provide wonderful events and opportunities for our boys. I know it may sound daunting, but the committee is made up of parents just like you and we all have our son’s best interests at heart. We have meetings once a month and it’s a great way to meet other parents, find out more about our great school and support the wonderful work that teachers and staff do.
While our main function is NOT fundraising, however, the money we do make from the coffee mornings, the Christmas Raffle/Cards and other events goes directly back into the school to benefit all our sons. Most importantly, we get a chance to give a little bit of our time to our boys and their school. Our next meeting will be Tuesday October 2nd at 7.30pm in the staff room if you would like to drop in. Or if you wish to leave your name and number at reception it will be passed onto us. We sincerely hope you will consider joining and look forward to seeing you.
5TH/6th CLASS OPEN NIGHTS FOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS
Open nights for the various secondary schools are fast approaching. As there are too many schools to list, you could check the various secondary school websites for the relevant dates.
SECOND HAND UNIFORM SHOP & DONATIONS
Due to restricted space, we will be unable to have our monthly Second-Hand Uniform shop. We will have a pop-up shop in the STAFF ROOM FROM 9.30 AM to 10 AM on FRIDAY 14TH SEPTEMBER. To allow this to happen, we need DONATIONS OF SECOND UNIFORM ITEMS ESPECIALLY TRACKSUITS AND JERSEYS. If you have any such items in good condition and clean, please leave them at the school reception by Thursday 13th September.
SCHOOL WEBSITE, APP & FACEBOOK
The school website is www.stcolumbasbns.ie and there is also a Facebook page and app. These are very informative and a great way to keep up to date. It is very easy to download the St Columba’s school application and it has so much school information and photographs, it is invaluable for all parents.
