Today was a very special day in St.Columba’s where we paid our respects to those who died during the 1916 Rising to help Ireland get her independence. Led by Chief Ship Wright Kevin Ferguson, father of Kevin and David Ferguson in 6th class, each class level was represented by a pupil who helped carry the flag. Our commemoration continued with the Proclamation being read by Cian Senior. The 1916 story was then read in Irish and in English and the Irish flag was raised. Our ceremony finished with a lovely rendition of Amhrán na bhFiann. Many thanks to Chief Ship Wright Kevin Ferguson who gave up his time to make our commemoration that extra special.
